Adoption Aftercare
Adoption Aftercare
Adoption Aftercare is what players should check after bringing a new pet into their account or colony.
Adoption is not only picking a pet. It is also making sure the pet has food, water, rest, safety, and a real place in the colony.
[h2]After You Adopt</h2]
After adopting, check:
- The pet's species and diet.
- Age stage and whether the pet can work, breed, train, or travel yet.
- Health, hunger, thirst, energy, and mood.
- Whether the pet needs a bed, nursery space, quarantine, or healing.
- Whether the pet is a wanderer that was properly moved into your ownership.
- Whether the colony has enough food and water for the new mouth.
[h2]Species Matters</h2]
Foxes and rabbits do not have the same food rules. Foxes can eat meat. Rabbits are herbivores and do not eat meat.
Read Species Guide.
[h2]Age Matters</h2]
Kits and young pets cannot do adult colony work. Adults can usually do more, while elders may need safer roles or Elder Hearth support.
Read Life Stages, Age, and Elders.
[h2]Beds and Safety</h2]
A new pet may need sleeping space. Crowding, wet bedding, dirty bedding, unsafe water, or sickness can make adoption harder on the whole colony.
[h2]Wanderer Adoption</h2]
If the pet came from the wanderer/loner side, the system should move them fully into player ownership and remove them from the wanderer pool.
