Meat stores
Food Stores
The colony’s Food Stores hold hunted, gathered, and prepared food. Although this den was once treated as a simple meat pile, the current survival system supports different food types with different uses, freshness, and species restrictions.
Food Types
- Meat and fish are valuable food for carnivorous pets, but usually spoil quickly.
- Berries, roots, mushrooms, and other forage may last longer or suit different species.
- Dried, salted, or otherwise preserved foods can last longer when available, although preservation may change their strength or require special materials.
- [b>Tainted or spoiled food[/b] may cause sickness and should be handled carefully.
Species Matter
Rabbits do not eat meat. Foxes and rabbits should be fed supplies appropriate to their species rather than treated as identical stomach-shaped inventory slots.
Spoilage
Food freshness changes over time. Heat, humidity, weather, and storage conditions affect how quickly supplies rot. Spoiled food may sometimes be composted, but dumping it carelessly can attract pests, predators, and contamination.
Alerts
The Colony Pulse warns about empty stores, low supplies, and food approaching spoilage.
Tips
- Gather a mix of fresh and longer-lasting food.
- Use fragile supplies before preserved ones when possible.
- Check whether food is safe before feeding vulnerable pets.
