Adopts and Availability
The adoption system lets players bring new pets into their account and colony path.
[h2]Starter Pets</h2]
New players begin by adopting starter pets. Starter adoption is designed to get a player into the main survival loop with enough pets to begin building a colony.
[h2]Adoption Cards</h2]
Adoption displays may show useful care context such as:
- Species.
- Age or life stage.
- Role possibilities.
- Strengths and weaknesses.
- Care difficulty.
- Colony usefulness.
- Species-specific warnings.
[h2]Species</h2]
Available species may include foxes and rabbits.
- Foxes are omnivores and can eat meat.
- Rabbits are herbivores and do not eat meat.
- Different species cannot breed with each other.
[h2]Wanderers</h2]
Some adoptable pets may come from the wanderer or loner side of the world. When adopted properly, they should leave the wanderer pool and become normal owned pets.
[h2]NPC/System Pets</h2]
NPC pets should not appear as normal adoptable pets unless a specific adoption feature intentionally makes them available. System-owned pets, Faux records, and NPC colony members need safeguards so they do not accidentally become player pets.
[h2]Aftercare</h2]
After adopting, check the new pet's food needs, water, sleeping space, age stage, health, hunger, thirst, energy, mood, and colony impact.
