Starting a Colony

Starting a Colony is the beginning of the survival loop. Your first pets are not only decorations. They are the first little workers, trouble magnets, snack consumers, and future decisions your colony will be built around.

[h2]Starter Adoption</h2]
New players begin by adopting starter pets. Starter adoption should give enough information to help players understand species, care difficulty, role usefulness, and basic survival needs.

[h2]Choosing Pets</h2]
When choosing pets, look at:

  • Species and diet.

  • Age or life stage.

  • Stats such as strength, agility, and intellect.

  • Possible colony roles.

  • Care difficulty or warnings.

  • Whether the pet is suited for safe work, travel, healing, building, or defense.

[h2]First Colony Checks</h2]
After getting started, check:

  • Food and water stores.

  • Sleeping space and bedding.

  • Pet health, hunger, thirst, energy, and mood.

  • Colony Pulse warnings.

  • Any starting dens or roles that need assignment.

[h2]Do Not Rush Danger</h2]
Scouting, hunting, exploring, fighting, raids, and territory challenges can be dangerous. Make sure a pet is old enough, healthy enough, supplied enough, and reasonably prepared before sending them out.
