Fishing
Fishing
Fishing is the colony's water-based food and discovery system. It can provide fish, aquatic resources, live catches, events, and hazards depending on weather, water conditions, location, and pet readiness.
What Fishing Can Provide
Fishing may produce:
- Fish and other edible water finds.
- Live catches that need a separate decision.
- Useful scraps, oddities, or crafting materials.
- Fishing log or gallery progress when supported.
- Trouble, because water has opinions.
Live Catches
Some catches may arrive alive. These are handled through the Live Catch Pool or a related decision page.
A live catch might be kept, released, processed, logged, or handled another way depending on the system and species involved.
Fishing Decisions
Fishing is not always a simple collect button. Decision cards or action panels may ask what to do with a catch, especially when it is alive, strange, risky, rare, contaminated, or useful in more than one way.
Preparation
Before fishing, check:
- The pet's Health, hunger, thirst, energy, mood, sickness, and injuries.
- Bag space and protected prep supplies.
- Weather, season, water condition, and nearby hazards.
- Whether the pet is allowed to perform the action right now.
Water Quality and Weather
Fishing can interact with water quality. Storms, heat, algae, rot, contamination, runoff, and neglected remains can all change water-related risk.
Colony Pulse
Important fishing outcomes can hand off to Colony Pulse, especially if the catch points to contamination, dangerous water, resource pressure, or other colony problems.
