Sickness and Injury
Sickness and Injury
Pets can become sick or injured through weather, travel, battle, bad water, spoiled food, dirty bedding, parasites, neglect, raids, and other survival systems.
Sickness
Sickness may come from:
- Unsafe or contaminated water.
- Spoiled food, rot, or tainted remains.
- Wet, dirty, or moldy bedding.
- Seasonal pollen, cold, heat, smoke, algae, parasites, or other environmental pressure.
- Contact with contagious pets.
Injury
Injuries may come from:
- Battles, raids, and territory challenges.
- Hunting, exploring, scouting, fishing, or accidents.
- Predators, pests, traps, weather damage, or harsh terrain.
- Risky training or unsafe work.
Why It Matters
Sick or injured pets may be blocked from dangerous activities, skipped by defense queues, unable to work properly, or at higher risk during daily checks.
Treatment
Treatment may require:
- An eligible healer.
- Fresh or dried herbs.
- Quarantine space if the illness is contagious or risky.
- Time, rest, safe bedding, food, water, and stable colony conditions.
Contagion and Quarantine
Some illnesses can threaten other pets. Quarantine helps reduce spread, but healers working with contagious patients may be exposed.
Death Risk
Severe sickness or untreated injury can contribute to death risk, especially when combined with thirst, hunger, exhaustion, age, pregnancy, kit vulnerability, unsafe water, or old age.
