Leader Den
Leader Den
The Leader Den is where colony leadership and high-level colony responsibility are managed.
[h2]What the Leader Handles</h2]
A leader may matter for:
- Colony direction and major decisions.
- Role assignment or role visibility where supported.
- Deceased-care leadership requirements.
- Colony morale, stability, or collapse pressure where supported.
- Important den handoffs or emergency attention.
[h2]Leader Eligibility</h2]
A leader still has to be alive and valid. A dead, missing, underage, unavailable, or otherwise blocked pet cannot meaningfully lead the colony.
[h2]Leaderless Colonies</h2]
If the colony loses its leader, leadership may need to pass to a valid reserve or successor where supported.
A colony without a valid leader may become unstable and can risk collapse if no living valid pet can continue the group.
[h2]Deceased Care</h2]
Some deceased-care actions may require the leader or a valid leadership path. Read Deceased Care.
[h2]Role Handoffs</h2]
Leaders do not replace every job. Healers, caretakers, builders, scouts, warriors, elders, and Perimeter Keepers all have their own responsibilities.
A leader is not a universal fox-shaped multitool. Admirable concept, terrible staffing plan.

Echo Note - Collapse risk
A leader dying or becoming invalid can create serious colony instability. Make sure there is a valid living successor or reserve path before the colony starts turning into a historical inconvenience.
