Roles within the colony
Roles Within the Colony
Colony roles decide what each pet contributes and which areas they can manage. A healthy colony needs more than one heroic leader trying to personally perform every job while holding six herbs and a stick.
Core Roles
- Leader – Manages major colony decisions, permissions, and requests.
- All – A special loner-style access role with broad den permissions.
- Healer – Treats sick and injured pets and may be assigned to patients in the Healing Den or Quarantine Den.
- Caretaker – Supports young pets and mentorship in the Caretaker Den.
- Builder – Helps improve colony structures, dens, and defenses.
- Scout – Travels outward to gather information, discover routes, and face wilderness risks.
- Warrior – Supports defense and dangerous territory work. Warriors may participate in scouting and building-related activity where allowed.
- Wetnurse – Helps support vulnerable families and young pets.
- Reserve – Remains part of the colony without taking on an active specialist job.
- Recruit – A newer or not-yet-assigned colony member.
Permissions
Roles affect access to den actions. Leaders and pets with All access can handle broader colony decisions. Ordinary users should only assign or control pets they are allowed to manage. Some actions involving another player’s pet may require that owner’s approval.
Tips
- Balance survival roles instead of filling the colony with only one specialty.
- Keep backups for critical jobs such as healing and scouting.
- Remember that a role is responsibility, not just a shiny label beside a pet portrait.
