Contamination and Rot Pressure

Contamination and Rot Pressure

Contamination happens when unsafe food, water, remains, bedding, compost, pests, disease, or environmental hazards start affecting the colony.

Rot pressure is what happens when decay is not handled safely.

Common Sources

Contamination may come from:

--spoiled food

--tainted meat or fish

--unsafe water

--algae water

--dead bodies or unresolved remains

--tainted remains

--dirty bedding

--rotting compost

--pests, parasites, or scavengers

--flooding, runoff, smoke, mold, or bad weather

Why It Matters

Contamination can increase:

--sickness

--pest pressure

--predator attraction

--unsafe food or water warnings

--quarantine needs

--nursery risk

--elder risk

--colony collapse pressure

Unsafe Dumping

Throwing dangerous things into the wrong place can make problems worse.

Compost is for safe organic waste where supported. It is not a body pit, tainted-remains shortcut, or magical rot eraser.

The forest does not forget. It just gets flies.

Tainted Remains

Tainted remains need careful handling through Deceased Care or the proper quarantine/disposal path.

Do not treat tainted remains like ordinary materials or safe food.

What Helps

To reduce contamination:

--remove or process spoiled food safely

--secure safe water

--clean bedding

--handle deceased remains

--isolate unsafe catches or strange fish

--use quarantine when needed

--repair dens

--watch Pulse warnings
