Challenging Enemy Tiles

When scouting reaches land held by another colony, the player may be given the option to challenge the occupant instead of quietly backing away into a shrub.

Before a Challenge

  • The target must be an occupied tile reached through the territory system.

  • Your chosen pet should be healthy, prepared, and equipped for a real fight.

  • Tile fortification, terrain, defender strength, pet condition, mutations, weather, and other modifiers can affect the danger.

Battle Style

Territory challenges use a turn-based battle interface. You control your own pet while the defender is handled by the game using the defending pet's stats and conditions. Attacks, defense, healing supplies, and escape decisions all matter.

Fleeing

A pet may attempt to flee, but retreat is not a magical pause button. The enemy may still land a strike while your pet escapes.

Possible Results

  • Victory – The attacker gains progress toward taking the tile or secures the territory when the challenge is resolved.

  • Defeat – The defender holds the land and the attacking pet may return injured or worse.

  • Death – Rare but possible. Dangerous fights are meant to feel dangerous.
