Patrols and Decay
Patrols and Decay
Territory does not stay loyal simply because somebody clicked it once six months ago. Colonies must remain active in the land they claim.
Patrol Activity
- Patrolling refreshes a tile's activity and helps prevent territorial decay.
- Hunting and exploring can build familiarity with home-biome land.
- Scouting can build familiarity with tiles outside the home biome.
- Enough familiarity can contribute a patrol point for the day.
Why Patrol?
- Hold territory instead of allowing it to weaken through neglect.
- Notice danger, changes in local resources, and suspicious movement.
- Maintain routes used for hunting, exploring, scouting, gathering, and fishing.
Decay
Neglected territory can lose fortification and eventually return to neutral control. A tile left unpatrolled long enough may no longer belong to the colony at all. Weather, conflict, and other world conditions can make neglect more costly.
Encounters
Patrols and other outdoor activities may uncover rogue animals, predators, wanderers, shortages, opportunities, or trouble wearing a very convincing leaf hat.
