Pregnancy
Pregnancy
Pregnancy begins after a successful breeding. It lasts about three days, and the pregnant parent is cared for through the Nursery.
Nursery Space
Nursery capacity is tracked by family bed, not by counting every kit as a separate bed. A pregnancy, a nursing litter, or an orphaned family may occupy nursery space while care is needed.
Care During Pregnancy
- Keep food and safe water available.
- Watch the nursery for alerts and care needs.
- Maintain the colony's broader supplies, bedding, and weather protection.
- Keep herbs available in case complications or illness appear.
Risks
Birth is not completely safe. A parent may die during childbirth, and some mutations or poor conditions can increase the danger. Kits may also be born fragile, stillborn, or in need of additional care.
Orphaned Kits
If a parent dies, the litter becomes much more vulnerable. Eligible wetnurses and careful nursery management can improve the family's chance of survival.
