Genetics

Feral Rise uses several connected inheritance systems. A kit is not a perfect photocopy of either parent. Families can resemble one another while still producing surprises.

Appearance

A kit's adult appearance blends information from both parents with natural variation. Some descendants strongly resemble one parent, some combine both, and some arrive with unexpected differences.

Stats

Strength, agility, and intellect can be influenced by the parents while still allowing variation. Training and mentorship matter after birth, so genetics are a beginning rather than a final verdict carved into a rock.

Mutations

Mutations may be inherited according to their own rules. Dominant traits are more likely to appear clearly. Recessive traits may hide in a family line and surface later. Some mutations affect health, weather tolerance, care needs, pregnancy risk, scouting, battles, rest, or appearance.

See Pet Mutations.

Inbreeding

Family relationships are tracked. Close breeding can increase risks and should be considered before pairing pets.
