Inbreeding
Inbreeding
Breeding closely related pets can increase the risk of inherited problems. The game tracks family relationships so repeated breeding within the same line carries consequences.
How It Works
When two pets breed, the system checks their family connection. Close relationships can increase an offspring’s inbreeding score.
The closer the relationship, the greater the concern:
- Parent and child – Extremely risky.
- Full siblings – Highly risky.
- Half-siblings – Risky.
- More distant relatives – Lower risk, but still worth checking.
Possible Consequences
An elevated inbreeding score can contribute to weaker or more vulnerable offspring. Depending on the active systems, this may include:
- Higher sickness risk.
- Birth complications or stillbirth risk.
- Fragile kits or reduced long-term resilience.
- Additional care pressure for the colony.
Checking Family Lines
Review a pet’s parents and known relatives before breeding. A rare coat is exciting. A family tree shaped like a decorative wreath is less ideal.
