Snail Breeding
Snail Breeding
Snail Breeding lets eligible adult snails produce baby snails after a breeding timer.
Snail breeding is separate from pet breeding. It uses snail-specific rules, cooldowns, inheritance, and care restrictions.
Basic Requirements
To breed, snails generally need to be:
- Adult or otherwise old enough for breeding.
- Owned by the player or available through the supported breeding flow.
- Not already busy with another breeding timer.
- Not actively mourning.
- Not listed in The Caucus or locked in Caucus stasis.
- Healthy and available enough for the action where required.
Breeding Timer
A snail breeding may take about 18 hours before babies are ready, depending on the active system.
Parent Cooldown
After breeding, parents may have a cooldown before they can breed again. A common cooldown is about 1 day.
Babies
Baby snails remain babies for a short growth period. A common baby period is about 2 days before they become adults.
Inheritance
Snail babies inherit visual traits from their parents.
- A baby commonly takes shell/body features from one parent side.
- If parents share compatible sets, rarer combined outcomes may be possible.
- Colors may blend or pull from parent traits depending on the active rules.
Mourning Guard
Snails in active mourning cannot breed. Mourning should resolve first.
This protects the snail's story state and keeps the system from treating grief like a decorative cooldown sticker.
Caucus Stasis Guard
Snails listed in The Caucus cannot breed while listed. Caucus stasis pauses care decay, but it does not allow breeding, racing, training, feeding, or habitat care.
