Caucus Listing Holds

Caucus Listing Holds

Listing holds are the safety locks used by The Caucus. They make sure a listed object cannot be used somewhere else while it is available for sale.

The Basic Rule

If something is listed, it is not freely usable.

This applies even if the object still appears in a list or still has a visible record. A market listing is a promise that the thing is being held aside for that listing.

Inventory Stack Holds

A listed inventory stack cannot be:

  • Used.

  • Equipped.

  • Assigned.

  • Spent in crafting or care systems.

  • Listed again in another place.

  • Consumed by another action while the listing is active.

Creature Holds

A listed creature, such as a supported snail listing, is locked out of normal activity while the listing is active.

For snails, this is called Caucus stasis. Care decay pauses, but the listing does not heal, refill, feed, train, race, or otherwise improve the snail.

Why Stasis Does Not Refill Meters

Stasis is a pause, not a spa day. It prevents decay while the market decides what happens, but it should not be used as free care storage.

What Ends a Hold

A hold can end when:

  • The listing is cancelled.

  • The listing expires unsold.

  • The listing sells.

  • Staff or system cleanup resolves a broken listing.

Why Confirmation Matters

The confirmation checkbox is there because listing something changes what can be done with it. If the form asks you to confirm, read the warning. The market is not trying to be dramatic. It is trying to prevent item goblin crimes.

A snail in Caucus stasis should not receive normal Habitat care, trail actions, breeding, racing, training, or tank care while the listing is active. Stasis pauses decay, but it does not refill or improve the snail.
