Snail Bonding
Snail Bonding
Snail Bonding lets a snail form a meaningful bond with an eligible living pet.
A bond is more than a label. It can affect the snail's story, mood, mourning state, and future restrictions.
Eligible Pets
Bonding pages should only offer valid pets belonging to the logged-in user. A snail should not be bondable to another player's pet, a dead pet, or an invalid target.
What a Bond Does
A bonded snail may:
- Track its companion in habitat and registry pages.
- Receive story entries about the bond.
- React when the companion dies.
- Enter mourning if the bond ends through death.
When a Bonded Pet Dies
If the bonded companion dies, the snail may begin mourning. The old active bond should be cleared or moved into history so the snail is not trapped in a broken active-bond state.
Dead-Bond Repair
If an older record still claims a snail is actively bonded to a dead pet, the system should repair that stale bond when snail pages load. This may create mourning context, clear active fields, and write story history where supported.
