Weather and Colony Effects

Weather in Feral Rise changes more than the background image. It affects food, water, sickness, travel, den safety, and the behavior of the world around the colony.

Common Effects

  • Heat can speed spoilage, increase evaporation, raise dehydration risk, and make some conditions more dangerous.

  • Cold and Snow can slow spoilage but increase exposure risk, interfere with travel, and make dry shelter more important.

  • Rain and Humidity can refill water supplies, soak bedding, slow drying, encourage mold, and complicate storage.

  • Storms can interrupt travel or drying, damage conditions around the colony, and bring dangerous surprises.

  • Drought, Flooding, Algae, Smoke, and other environmental problems can affect both gathering and health.

Biome Matters

A beach, forest, swamp, grassland, and desert do not store food or water in the same way. Local conditions stack with the current weather. A dry biome may help preserve some supplies while making water scarce. A damp biome may support certain resources while encouraging mold and rot.

Pets React Differently

Species, age, health, and mutations can change how a pet handles weather. Thick fur may help in cold conditions but become a liability in heat. Other traits may affect water needs, cold resistance, or sickness risk.

Tips

  • Read the Colony Pulse during major weather streaks.

  • Prepare before the weather becomes severe.

  • Keep food, water, and bedding under observation. The sky is an active participant in your survival problems.
