Weather and Colony Effects
Weather affects the colony, pets, dens, resources, travel, sickness, and survival pressure.
Weather is not only flavor text. If the sky is angry, the colony should probably listen.
[h2]What Weather Can Affect</h2]
Weather may influence:
- Food spoilage and herb withering.
- Water evaporation, contamination, freezing, or algae pressure.
- Sleeping Den bedding and den safety.
- Nursery risk for kits and pregnant pets.
- Sickness such as heat exhaustion, frost cough, mold cough, algae sickness, allergies, parasites, or smoke sickness.
- Scouting, hunting, exploring, fishing, patrols, and travel danger.
- Training Grounds closures or risky drills.
- Territory pressure, ecology stress, and resource availability.
- Mutation effects such as heat or cold sensitivity.
[h2]Temperature</h2]
Heat can increase thirst, spoilage, exhaustion, and heat-related sickness. Cold can increase energy needs, frost risk, freezing, and kit/elder vulnerability.
[h2]Rain, Damp, and Flooding</h2]
Rain or damp conditions can affect bedding, mold, water levels, travel safety, and den hygiene. Flooding can make some areas unsafe or harder to use.
[h2]Smoke, Drought, and Harsh Air</h2]
Smoke, drought, or harsh air can increase sickness pressure, dry out resources, damage mood, or make travel riskier.
[h2]Seasonal Pressure</h2]
Different seasons may bring different risks. A colony might deal with pollen/allergies in one season, heat or algae in another, and frost or scarcity in another.

Weather may eventually become more local or biome-aware where supported. A wet river tile, dry ridge, cold forest, or moldy den area should not always feel identical.

Some mutations may change how a pet handles weather. Thick fur, cold sensitivity, heat risk, water dependency, or similar traits can make the same day affect two pets differently.
