Mouse, Ham, and Pinecones
Mouse, Ham, and Pinecones
Feral Rise has two optional guide characters with different jobs.
Mouse: Area Information
Mouse is the small fox guide shown as a fox-and-question-mark button on supported pages.
Mouse explains the area the player is currently viewing. His notes cover the page's purpose, important limits, risks, consequences, and useful next links. Mouse is a reference guide, not a quest giver. He does not click buttons, choose outcomes, or perform actions for the player.
Mouse's help is designed to stay out of the way. The information opens only when requested. If the game or Wiki does not yet establish a reliable answer, Mouse says that information is incomplete, gives only the verified information available, and links to the relevant Wiki area instead of inventing a rule.
Ham: Guided Learning Trails
Ham is the bunny who teaches systems in a useful order. His permanent guide entry appears in the top Help and Community menu.
Ham's learning trails include:
--first-day survival and choosing an active pet
--Colony Home, storage, water, rest, food, and field work
--compost, spoilage, preservation, healing, crafting, and upgrades
--scouting, territory, training, Fang-Claw-Pelt, battles, and colony defense
--pouches, equipment, adoption, wanderers, breeding, nursery care, elders, and mentors
--roles, leadership, succession, diplomacy, leaderless colonies, archives, and graveyards
--trading cards, Thistle's barter, markets, gifts, customization workshops, and collections
--snail care, trails, training, racing, breeding, stories, and The Caucus
--rituals, chaos, omens, Trail Signs, profiles, achievements, community pages, and the Wiki
Visiting a supported page marks that guide stop complete. The player returns to Ham's page to claim the reward. Ham never performs the lesson's gameplay action automatically.
Ham's Reminders and Dismissal
Ham may show a small reminder while rewarded guides remain active. The guide itself always stays available from the top menu. Hiding reminder nudges only silences those notices; guides and unclaimed rewards remain active and reminders can be turned back on.
A separate opt-out ends the rewarded trails. Opting out does not remove ordinary game pages or the permanent guide link. Rewards already claimed remain owned. Every unclaimed Pinecone and biome item on the opted-out trails is permanently forfeited.
Pinecones
Pinecones are the persistent progression currency. Ham's completed guide stops are the first source.
The Pinecone balance belongs to the player account rather than one colony, so it carries forward when the player changes, inherits, forms, reclaims, or loses a colony. The current balance appears beneath the active-pet image in the site header, on Colony Home, and in Ham's Guides.
Pinecones can be earned and banked now. Spending is reserved for the later incremental-progression update, where ordinary survival play will support den, room, capacity, protection, and infrastructure improvement. Achievement points remain a separate score and are not spent as Pinecones.
Biome-Native Guide Rewards
Ham's claimed supply rewards use the active colony's biome and the live resource catalog. Forest, beach, swamp, snowy, desert, mountain, river, abandoned-house, old-barn, and cave colonies can receive different practical supplies.
The exact preview is shown before claiming. The biome and item are locked when the reward is claimed, so a completed reward cannot be moved between colonies to reroll it. Perishable rewards use the normal preservation state and spoilage timer rules.
Which Guide Should I Use?
Use Mouse when the question is: What does this page do, what should I watch, or why might this control be unavailable?
Use Ham when the question is: What should I learn next, or can something walk me through this system in order?
Use the Wiki when a player wants the fullest written reference, when Mouse says information is incomplete, or when a system has more detail than a small popup should hold.
